Welcome Back to the Newsletter

As our one year anniversary in this community slowly approaches, we can't help but reflect on how much we have grown. From a burgeoning small business in Massachusetts' apple country to a thriving community and a growing business! We're so excited to be expanding different areas of the business so that we can grow into our full potential. This week, we'll be diving into some fun developments in our beer/wine section, outlining all of the coffee bean brands we now sell and updating y'all on some menu favorites that will be back soon. Your Guide to Nan’s Coffee Selection

Here at Nan's, we pride ourselves on being a reliable source of the best locally roasted coffee varieties around. Today we'll be breaking down each brand for you to give you some more information to use while shopping. Don't worry, this will also be made into a blog post which will be linked at the end of the newsletter! Let's get into it...
1. Karma Coffee Roasters: Karma Coffee, based in Sudbury, MA is a small batch roaster that specializes in quality and freshness. They carefully handpick each and every bean that is included in their roasts and have a wide variety of roasts from Ethiopia, Central America, and South America.
2. Speckled Ax Coffee: Speckled Ax, based in Portland, ME wood roasts their coffee, which truly sets them apart from every other roastery on this list. Their beans are award winning and sustainably harvested and produced. At Nan's, we sell the Early Riser and Bird Dog Blends. Early Riser is a more everyday, "morning" blend while Bird Dog is Speckled Ax's classic Espresso blend that customers near and far flock to.
3. Broadsheet Coffee: Broadsheet Coffee Roasters is based in Cambridge, MA and is a very successful brand. They are Cambridge's first and only specialty coffee company. Broadsheet focuses on "conscientiously-sourced" coffees and making those accessible to their community. They source their coffee from Ethiopia and Uganda all the way to Nicaragua, Mexico and Colombia.
4. Dean's Beans: Dean's Beans is the official coffee bean of Nan's Rustic Kitchen + Market- you'll even see some staff members wearing swag on the job! Dean's was started in 1993 in Orange, MA and focuses on truly ethical specialty coffee. Their beans are certified organic and they pride themselves on having long-term relationships with their coffee farmers in Sumatra, Colombia, and Nicaragua.
5. Little Wolf Coffee: Little Wolf was founded in 2016 in Ipswich, MA by a husband and wife team, Chris and Melissa. They named their business after their Siberian Husky and add this personal touch to every aspect of what they do. They source the highest quality green coffee, let it fully develop and roast it in a way that brings out the natural flavors of the bean and lets them shine.

Our Newest Addition…

Our newest coffee brand, BKG Coffee Roasters is headquartered in Brooklyn and specializes in small-batch coffee. They roast only the best quality, sustainably sourced beans and then hand package them batch by batch. BKG has a scientific approach to their blends: carefully making sure each new one fills a gap in their current offerings. Some of BKG's most popular blends (which we happen to sell at Nan's) are Brazil Black and Dragoon!

Clam Chowdah

It wouldn't be fall in New England without the classic clam chowder. And we happen to have one of the best around (in our humble opinion). This recipe is one of Chef Jordan's best kept secrets and uses the highest quality ingredients (three kinds of clams, Kennebec potatoes, North Country bacon, and more...) to bring on the warm and fuzzy feelings that come after a damn good meal. As the kid's say...it's good soup.
