Welcome Back to the Nansletter!

Hey, y'all! This week is one of our favorites of the whole year: Halloween is on Sunday! We love the community feeling of this particular holiday and the nostalgia it brings back for us. Reminiscing on running around neighborhoods littered with fall leaves in our carefully crafted costumes, hoping to bring back a huge haul of candy...it's the best. This week, we'll be getting in the spirit by watching a classic Halloween movie like Hocus Pocus or Halloweentown and chowing down on some candy. Enjoy this time and the community bonding that comes along with it!

Curio Golden Milk Mix

Y'all, we are so jazzed about this new vendor. Curio Spice Company is a woman-owned business in Cambridge, MA that focuses on making the world's best spices accessible. The first product we can't get enough of is this golden milk mix. There's nothing like sipping from a hot mug, in a porch chair, on a chilly autumnal morning. This gives us that vibes. If you don't know what golden milk is, it's a turmeric based drink that warms you up from the inside out. Turmeric-infused milk is anti-inflammatory and traditionally was used in India as a comfort drink. Curio's golden milk mix, a delicious blend of turmeric, ginger, black pepper, sweet cinnamon and cardamom pairs perfectly with any warm milk (we prefer coconut). This could even be a cute gift paired with one of the handmade mugs we carry in the barn!

62 Soaps

62 Soaps is one of our favorite vendors- Danielle is always coming out with irresistible, seasonal scents! She makes her soaps at home in small batches, using a cold-process technique. Cold-processed soap is silky smooth, nourishing for the skin, and allows you to get the most out of your soap. Also, they're beautiful. On a cold day, there's nothing we look forward to more than a hot shower or bath and lathering up with a decadently-scented soap. No matter what scents you're partial to, 62 has something for you. Our personal favorite of the moment is Farmhouse Mulled Cider (it reminds us of the delicious cider you can buy here at the barn!). 62 Soap leaves your skin soft and smelling delicious, and is great for treating yourself.

Featured Menu Items

Parmesan Roasted Eggs

Oftentimes, on-the-go breakfasts are soggy, cold, and just overall not tasty. But if you grab a breakfast bowl on the way to your next destination from Nan's, we promise that will not be the case. One of our newest breakfast offerings are these parmesan roasted eggs. These are an elevated version of a classic dish which still tastes comforting and home cooked. Our favorite way to eat them is with our crispy breakfast potatoes, bacon, pesto roasted broccoli and doused in hot sauce (pick up one of the Siete hot sauces in our condiments section!).

Biscuits & Gravy

For those of us who like to go out and celebrate on Halloween, here is the perfect "morning-after" cure. Whether you've indulged in a few adult beverages or were running around with kiddos hopped up on sugar all night, the morning after Halloween can be exhausting. That calls for a hearty, delicious, stick-to-your-ribs type of breakfast. Enter the biscuits and gravy. Rich, savory and hearty- you'll want to enjoy every last bite.

Wine & Beer Section

Say hello to some of our new fall beauties...*insert heart eyes here*
From Left to Right:
1. FUSO is a project dedicated to searching out small-run Organic winemakers in Italy who specialize in fresh, delicious, daily-drinking wines. Dario Serrentino's "Cala" Blanco is 100% Catarrato Extra Lucido (extra shiny catarrato) from Sicily. Dario's known for his sea-breezy island wines with dangerous drinkability. His "Cala" wine sees 50 hours worth of skin contact making it just on the cusp of being an orange wine. Expect notes of juicy cantaloupe, grapefruit and orange rind, apricot and dried flowers with a long brisk finish hinting at the ocean. Pair with any fish dish garnished with a tropical style garnish- grilled salmon with pineapple salsa maybe?
2. Pierre Cotton needs no introduction for the official wine geeks. One of the most talked about young producers in Beaujolais has got you covered for Thanksgiving with his "100% Cotton" cuvee. Still working on his family land from 1856, he ferments this vividly juicy Beaujolais sans SO2 in concrete tanks with native yeast, and ages them in century old oak foudres keeping the expression as pure as can be. Pair with literally anything autumnal- like an her brined chicken bowl with ginger roasted carrots, charred brussel sprouts, and apple cider.
3. FUSO Rosso is winemaker Walter Massa's ode to his family tradition of growing and enjoying fresh Barbera for their own daily enjoyment while their other wines aged. Thankfully he decided to share some of his wine with us. Fermented and aged in concrete tanks under his homestead, this Barbera has a little bit more depth than your average daily drinking Italian red thanks to the ancient clay and limestone rich soils under his vines. As always, shines with a slight chill, with spaghetti and meatballs.
4. Montinore Estate's "Vivace" screams autumn right out of the glass. From the 100% biodynamic certified farm winery, this crisp sparkler is jumping with herbal tea notes: chamomile, lemon verbena...(probably thanks to the bounty of wild flowers and herbs growing in between vine rows at the estate), as well as crisp yellow and green apple, lemon zest, as well as a "honeyed" quality. Vibrant and fresh- as if you're standing right there in the Oregon field sipping it.
As always, these picks and descriptions are courtesy of our in-house somm Chris!
